In Her Eyes
By Wesley Banks
When Ben Wilder is given a second chance he focuses on the one thing he's always been good at: running. After walking on to the University of Florida Track and Field team he begins to quickly move up the national rankings, paving a path towards the NCAA Championships. Everything is going the way he planned, until the day he bumps into Casey Taylor.
New to Gainesville, and focused on her first year out of medical school, Casey is initially hesitant to let Ben into her life. But the truth is she's worried about letting a guy near the one thing she loves most: her daughter, Emma. After one fun and fateful night Casey can no longer bury her feelings behind these excuses, and takes a chance on a guy she is slowly falling for.
Casey's relationship with Ben starts to gradually build into a love that she has never felt before. But more importantly, Emma has taken a particular liking to Ben. As they all spend more time together Ben is forced to confront painful memories when he starts to notice something hauntingly familiar in Emma's eyes.
After a local journalist uncovers the secret of Ben's past their lives begin to converge on a single promise that Ben Wilder has long since made: to never give up...no matter what.

About The Author
Ben and Casey first meet during a late morning run. There is definitely an instant attraction but Casey has other things (like her residency and daughter) to concentrate on so she doesn’t give Ben any encouragement when he asks for her number. But Ben? Ben is what one can only call persistent. He hasn’t been attracted to anyone in a long time. Not like he is to Casey. So with only her first name to go on, he searches for her all over campus.
As flattering as Ben’s pursuit is, Casey really doesn’t feel she can fit in a relationship. She’s even less sure anyone will want a relationship with her once they find out she has a daughter. But after a chance encounter and a couple laid back dates (can I just say Ben is the king of the cheap yet impossibly romantic date?), Casey finds that her daughter is not deal breaker for Ben. Quite the contrary. He immediately connects with her daughter and gets along with her famously. At that point, Casey is all in. As their relationship grows, Ben slowly opens up to Casey about his past. A past that exposes some unexpected concerns for Casey.
I really enjoyed this book. It is so different from the romances I usually read. Their growing relationship is enjoyable to read and lacks the push and pull which was a refreshing change. There is definitely angst associated with both Casey and Ben’s pasts but they are so well adjusted now that the angst bleeds minimally into their present. Not to say that they are perfeI really enjoyed this book. It is so different from the romances I usually read. Their growing relationship is enjoyable to read and lacks the push and pull which was a refreshing change. There is definitely angst associated with both Casey and Ben’s pasts but they are so well adjusted now that the angst bleeds minimally into their present. Not to say that they are perfect. If they were, there wouldn’t be a story to tell. There is some heavy foreshadowing so I found that the big reveal wasn’t TOO much of a surprise. Which, in my opinion, benefited the story over all. It kept the reader interested while still allowing emotional impact at the end.
In Her Eyes was a wonderful addition to my list of 2016 reads. Extremely lovable characters in a beautiful story about love and connections. I enjoyed it so much I will definitely be picking up Wesley Banks previous title, Hope in Every Raindrop. If you are a fan or romance (and if you are reading my review, you probably are) I highly recommend picking up In Her Eyes by Wesley Banks.
