Then Came You by Jill Shalvis

***1/2

From the New York Times bestselling author of Rumor Has It and the Lucky Harbor series comes the story of a woman whose world is turned upside down by one night’s torrid fling…

Veterinary intern Emily can’t believe she wound up in the small town of Sunshine, Idaho, instead of the Los Angeles clinic she had always imagined. Now she has to put her plans to move to L.A. on hold for a whole year while she fulfills the obligation of her vet school scholarship.

Then Wyatt, her gorgeous one-night stand from a Reno vet conference, introduces himself as her new boss. And Emily is just as drawn to his seductive looks and quiet strength as she was on that very steamy night. She soon learns that Wyatt isn’t just a laid-back doctor, but a delicious alpha male tempting her away from her carefully laid-out plans…

I LOVE the Animal Magnetism series.  Dell, Brady and Adam are awesome and I was thrilled to see them make appearances in Then Came You.  And while I enjoyed Rumor Has It, I was so happy that Jill took us back to the animal hospital for Then Came You.  There's so much potential there, with the animals and the fantastic cast of supporting characters - but especially the animals!

So, Then Came You brings together two new veterinarians at the clinic in everyone's worst nightmare, that one night stand that ends up being your boss...  Seriously, I cannot imagine a more uncomfortable scenario.  Anyway, Emily shows up for work in hicktown USA when she had hoped for a job in L.A. and finds out that her one night stand is now her boss, Wyatt (and ok, so Dell, Adam & Brady may own the hospital, it seems that they have expanded, taking on Wyatt, who will be in charge of training Emily), and of course, hilarity ensues.

Wyatt isn't one of Jill's typical alpha man.  He's fantastic, but he is very much ruled by the women in his life (a/k/a his crazy sisters), which is probably why he is much more in tune with Emily than one of Jill's typical alphas would be.  Alternatively, Emily is actually much more put together than Jill's typical heroine, making for an interesting switch.  The role reversal is refreshing and entertaining.

With Jill Shalvis' trademark comedy, hot romance and even a little intrigue, Then Came You is a hit!  You should definitely pick up Then Came You and if you haven't read the other Animal Magnetism books, then I think we just found your summer reading list!
